This case is a 15 ton superheated steam boiler. The end user is a paper mill in China. In the paper production process, it will consume a lot of steam during various processes such as pulping, drying, hot pressing, fermentation, cleaning, etc. The operating pressure of the boiler used in this case is 18bar. As the customer has higher requirement for the steam temperature, ZOZEN equips the boiler with a superheater to reheat the steam to 240℃.

The common structures of gas boilers on the market are fire tube boilers and water tube boilers. Fire tube boilers have a longer history. Why did the user in this case choose a water tube boiler?

1. High combustion efficiency: The gas-fired water tube boiler adopts a membrane water  wall structure, which can maximize the contact area between gas and water and improve combustion efficiency. In contrast, the flue gas after fuel combustion in fire tube boilers needs to flow in the fire tubes, and the heat transfer efficiency is relatively low.

2. High heat exchange efficiency: The water tube structure in the gas fired water tube boiler can increase the heat exchange area and improve the heat exchange efficiency. In contrast, the heat exchange area of the fire tube boiler is relatively small, and the heat exchange efficiency is low.

3. High safety: Water tubes of gas-fired water tube boiler is tighter, which can effectively avoid the damage to the furnace wall by the high-temperature flue gas generated during the combustion process, thereby improving the safety of the boiler. However, the smoke tubes of the fire tube boiler is easily burned through by the high temperature flue gas, and there are certain potential safety hazards.

4. Convenient operation and maintenance: the gas fired water tube boiler has a relatively simple structure, fewer parts and components, and is more convenient to maintain. The structure of the fire tube boiler is more complicated, and the maintenance is relatively difficult.

5. Higher operating pressure: fire tube boilers can generally withstand operating pressures below 20bar, while water tube boilers can withstand pressures up to 53bar, and because water tube boilers have a larger internal space, they can be equipped with a superheater inside to reheat the saturated steam. It is better for customers who have higher requirements on steam temperature to choose water tube boilers.
